The Supreme Court rejected the appeal presented by Mateo Tanlongo and ordered the Argentine midfielder to pay compensation of one million euros to Racing Santander. At issue was the alleged agreement that the player had with the Spanish club, in the summer of 2023, before signing for Copenhagen. Through a statement, the club recalls the entire process involving the Sporting athlete, who in August 2023 traveled to Santander and even recorded the presentation video, but ended up leaving the club "empty-handed", a few hours after allegedly finalizing the last details of the contract with Racing. It should be remembered that Tanlongo filed appeals against the two previous court decisions, which always found Racing in the right. The first instance decision sentenced the athlete to pay one million euros, on April 19, 2024, and three months later, after the player had appealed the decision, the court again sentenced him to compensation. Tanlongo claimed to have never signed a contract with Racing, but the courts ruled in favor of the current leader of Spain's Second Division. This Supreme Court decision is “definitive and unappealable”, which is why the club wishes, in a statement, “very good luck” for the player’s future. This season, Tanlongo takes part in a game played by Sporting's B team. It was precisely last Sunday, the 4th, in the 2-1 defeat against Académico de Viseu. Read the note shared by Racing here:
