Ricardo Sousa: He is experiencing the most delicate moment of his career. He had his best season in Poland, where he was champion and awarded as the best midfielder. He was hired as “the face” of Samsunspor, the most expensive signing, but he suffered a serious injury – he broke a tendon in his foot – which would force him to stop for up to eight weeks, but we are already at 15 weeks. I travel and watch several games, I try to be present and we talk daily, but it is difficult to be away, especially at these times. It's normal that you need your loved ones nearby. MF: Wouldn’t Afonso have a place in the Portuguese League? RS: Of course. In the summer he rejected a proposal from the “big” four. He felt that, after so many years in Portugal, he never had the opportunity to impose himself in the League, being forced to emigrate to receive due recognition. Therefore, he chose to remain abroad. Financially it is also beneficial. MF: Which Portuguese club tried to sign Afonso? RS: There was a proposal from Sp. Braga. MF: In a family of sportsmen, what does Ricardo like to do? RS: Despite my knees, I like to practice paddle tennis. It's important to live together and have moments of abstraction. MF: What is your main dream as a coach? RS: Reach the League. I work and fight every day to reach this level and prove that this is where I belong.
