The Estádio do Dragão was filled with excitement during the match between FC Porto and AVS, which ended with the Dragons winning 2-0.
In the 88th minute of the match, the stands rose for a long ovation in memory of Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, former president of the dragons, who would have celebrated his 88th birthday on December 28th.
The tribute came from Porto fans, who chose precisely the 88th minute to mark the date. Simultaneously with the applause, a large banner was placed on the Super Dragões stand with the face of the former manager, in a gesture that united the entire stadium in tribute to one of the most notable figures in the club’s history.
The FC Porto players and technical team present on the Dragons’ bench also applauded the former blue and white leader.
It is worth remembering that Pinto da Costa passed away at the beginning of 2025, after having left the presidency of FC Porto, a position he held for 42 years and in which he became the most titled manager in world football.
