The game between Algeria and Nigeria, in the “quarters” of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), ended with enormous confusion, on and off the field. After the referee's final whistle, chaos ensued on the pitch and with Luca Zidane as one of the protagonists of the clashes between players and staff from both teams. In the images it is possible to see the frustration of the Granada goalkeeper, who had to be grabbed by teammates and even opponents. Furthermore, in the stands, some Algerian fans also tried to invade the pitch, but ended up being prevented by security elements and the architecture of the Marrakesh Stadium itself. This is because, like the José Alvalade Stadium (before the reconstruction works), the venue has a moat and few access ramps to the pitch, which ended up preventing more serious episodes. The referee himself and the rest of the refereeing team had to be escorted to the access tunnel to the changing rooms, due to protests from Algerian fans and the players themselves. Remember that the match ended with a 2-0 victory for Nigeria, which guaranteed one of the places in the semi-finals of the tournament. Watch the moments of confusion here:
