Estudiantes, winner of the Clausura Tournament, won the Argentine Champions Trophy this Saturday, beating Platense, winner of the Apertura Tournament, 2-1. In San Nicolás de Los Arroyos, two goals from striker Lucas Alario gave Estudiantes the victory, with a comeback. After the 0-0 record at half-time, it was Platense who scored first, in the 49th minute, by Franco Zapiola, ex-Estudiantes, with a right-footed shot into the area, after a throw-in. However, Lucas Alario, launched by coach Eduardo Domínguez in the 73rd minute, turned the score around, with goals in the 79th and 90+1 minutes, the first with a header and the second with his right foot, following a corner. The 33-year-old striker, who returned to Argentina this season after a year at Internacional (Brazil) and six years in Germany (five at Bayer Leverkusen and one at Eintracht Frankfurt) was therefore decisive. Estudiantes, who had secured a place in the 2026 Copa Libertadores by beating Racing Club in the Final of the Closing Tournament (5-4 on penalties, after 1-1 in 120 minutes), qualified for the finals of the Argentine Super Cup (Independent Rivadavia) and the LPF Super Cup (Rosário Central).
