Sporting's futsal team went to Trás-os-Montes to beat Valpaços 11-4, in the first round of the League Cup, guaranteeing their presence in the final eight of the competition, of which it is the current holder. The lions took the lead after just 15 seconds, through Rocha, and then went on to put on a great performance. Valpaços still tied, after 6 minutes, but then only Sporting lost. Felipe Valério regained the lead in the 8th minute, with a shot from the middle of the street, before Bruno Pinto and Taynan extended the lead before the ten minutes to 4-1. Benfica wins in the Azores and advances in the League Cup Valpaços reduced the difference again, in the 14th minute, but the team led by Nuno Dias again took the lead with goals from Merlin (17m), Diogo Santos (17m and 20m) and Henrique Rafagnin (18m), reaching the break already leading 8-2. In the second half, Valpaços scored again, after 23 minutes, reducing it to 8-3, but Sporting's response was immediate, with Bruno Pinto (28m) also scoring twice in the match, following a set piece. Valpaços also scored a fourth goal, in the 30th minute, but Allan Guilherme (32m) and Pauleta (39m) had the last word. Sporting thus continues ahead in the League Cup and will defend the title in final eight which will be played between March 11th and 15th.
