Ivory Coast beat Mozambique 1-0, this Wednesday, in the first round of group F of the African Cup of Nations (CAN). The only goal of the game was scored in the second half, in the 49th minute, by Amad Diallo, with a shot in the area, after an assist from Franck Kessié. Mozambique struggled in the first half and Ivory Coast were always closer to scoring, but only managed to do so in the second half. Very close to the final whistle, Sporting's Geny Catamo, a starter in the match, had an excellent opportunity to equalize in added time, but goalkeeper Yahia Fofana saved the shot in the area. In addition to Catamo for the Mozambicans, Diogo Calila (Santa Clara) and Witi (Nacional) were also starters. Ghislain Konan (Gil Vicente) started for Ivory Coast and Ousmane Diomande (Sporting) did not leave the bench.
