Algeria closed the group stage of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) with three victories, the last of which was achieved this Wednesday, against Equatorial Guinea, 3-1. At half-time, the team led by Vladimir Petkovic was already leading 3-0. Anis Hadj-Moussa, a former Benfica target, assisted Zineddine Belaid for the first goal of the match, in the 19th minute. At 25, Fares Chaibi extended the Algerians' advantage, while Ibrahim Maza (32m) increased the count, again after a pass from Anis Hadj-Moussa. In the second half, Emilio Nsue (50m) reduced the score for Equatorial Guinea. Algeria thus ends Group E with nine points, followed by Burkina Faso, with six, who beat Sudan (2-0). Furthermore, Sudan also advances to the round of 16 as one of the best third parties, while Equatorial Guinea, without any points, falls by the wayside.
