João Nuno, coach of Estrela da Amadora, speaking after the goalless draw against Moreirense:

The team was always connected to the game

«I think it was a game, as I said well, very divided. We also knew the Moreirense team was a quality team, but I think the Estrela team always had a very correct attitude during the game, very competitive. This phase of going more for set pieces, or in the final part, wasn't much of a strategy, but during the game, with Sidny Cabral and Jefferson Encada, the two full-backs, feeling physical problems, feeling a touch there, we had to put Otávio on and then we ended up putting on Chernev and passing to the right back. This gives us greater capacity at set pieces, but it wasn't entirely strategic, it was rather out of necessity, within the squad. But I think Estrela was always on point, and ended up finishing on top. Maybe it was a game in which the result also fits, but if there was a winner, I think it would be Estrela because of what he did during the game. I think that in the clearest opportunities, Estrela were a very connected team and, at the end, I don't know how that ball didn't go in, but we have to continue. It wasn't the result we wanted at all, but I'm satisfied with the team's competitive attitude and its growth. It was the first time we didn’t concede a goal, and that’s also important for us.”

Sidny Cabral and Jefferson Encada in pain

«Sidny Cabral didn't have any problems, it's normal game conditions, due to fatigue. Sidny is fine, as is Encada, it was nothing serious, they are both fine, they just started to feel their calves, their back, and there is a risk of injury that we, at that moment, felt that they were both clearly breaking».

Sidny Cabral at Benfica?

«Sidny played a good game, an excellent game, he was focused with the team. We are prepared for all scenarios, because we believe in all members of the squad. That part no longer passes me by. Whatever it is for Sidny and Estrela, we are here, day after day, working, and the squad is not just Sidny, we are 25 or 26 players, we count on everyone, and the responses from those who join are very good. Therefore, it is necessary to continue on this path. Sidny is part of the team. Until he's here with us, he's a member of Estrela and I'm thinking about getting him to play in Famalicão.”

Words at interval

«I think we started very well in the second half and could have scored. I think we changed the characteristics of our midfield, we put Jovane more between the lines, who is stronger than Alex Sola. Sola knows how to do fantastic tactical work, not so much with the ball, but those are his characteristics. And when putting Ianis [Stoica]we created more depth on the left side, also forcing the Moreirense full-back to be yellow. It was also our idea to force more one-on-one situations there on the wing, and Jovane between the lines was stronger. And Jovane started to be able to play between the lines and we managed to gain midfield, bringing us closer with more danger. I think we did well, that was the idea and we forced Moreirense to change more than expected.”

Draw does not satisfy

“I think the game deserved goals. I would prefer to win, even conceding goals. I didn't care at all. As long as the three points came this way, I would like to keep a clean sheet and win. We are not entirely satisfied, but, with the consistency of the team at the moment, with the importance of being connected and good defensively, which is something we have been asking for a lot, I end up being satisfied with the team's attitude, but not with the result. Inside we are sad. It is this culture that we want to create here at Estrela. No one here, while I'm here, will be satisfied with draws. We wanted to win. We are sad. Now, when the players give everything, when the players are competitive and serious about their work, I can only be satisfied with the attitude, not with the result, and I think we were lacking, at times, in being a little more aggressive offensively. Even with set pieces, we had so many corners, so many free kicks, we ended up creating just one dangerous shot. I think we could have created more.”
