VAR had to intervene on two occasions yesterday in the duel between Sevilla and Athletic at the Sánchez Pizjuán. The only two interventions so far in the First Division and the two with a direct impact on Matías Almeyda's team. The first was in the 21st minute, in a play that ended with a goal from Unai Simón, after a shot by Nemanja Gudelj taking advantage of a cross from Kike Salas. It is then that referee Francisco José Hernández Maeso receives the VAR call from Valentín Pizarro for a foul by the scorer of the goal against Aitor Paredes at the beginning of the play: “Fran, I'm Valentín, I recommend a review so that you can consider canceling Sevilla's goal”.Continue reading...
