Michael Carrick made his debut at the helm of Man United, with a great victory over rival City, in the Manchester derby. Two goals in the second half put justice in the result (2-0) and sank Guardiola's team, which could be further away from the lead. Manchester City, it should be noted, only had Bernardo Silva on the field, in a game in which Ruben Dias was not an option due to being injured and in which Matheus Nunes was left out of the squad. Bernardo, it should be noted, played until the 80th minute and only caught the eye when he caught up with Maguire. United debuted Michael Carrick, who joined the team as a replacement for Ruben Amorim, after a spell as caretaker for Darren Fletcher. Now the coach couldn't ask for a better start: a triumph in the derby, from a team that emerged with a clean face and vulgarized rival Manchester City. Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes were starters, but he was the second to shine, with an assist for a goal (another assist and a goal that didn't count). Carrick, moreover, left players like Matheus Cunha and Ugarte on the bench, to bet on the fans' beloved Mainoo and Diallo. United's superiority began to be noticed after half an hour, when Bruno Fernandes assisted Diallo for the first disallowed goal. Before the break, Bruno Fernandes scored, after passing everyone, but once again the play was canceled for offside. Upon returning from the dressing room, Guardiola released Cherki and O'Reilly, but City did not improve. It was United who continued to be on top and threatening the goal. Casemiro failed scandalously (with Donnarumma on the ground he managed to hit the goalkeeper, in a rebound from Diallo's shot), and soon after Bruno Fernandes (on the pass) and Mbeumo (on the shot) gave a warning for what would come next. Donnarumma, however, saved the first time, but could do nothing afterwards, when Bruno beautifully led a counterattack and set up Mbeumo for an unblocked shot, which opened the scoring. Shortly afterwards, Matheus Cunha entered, who assisted Dorgu to make it 2-0. Old Trafford entered into a festive atmosphere, which became even greater when Matheus Cunha once again assisted Mason Mount for 3-0, which was however canceled by VAR. Carrick was unable to return the defeat suffered at City's ground, in the first round, but achieved Man's biggest victory of the season, which returns the team to Champions places and could leave the rival nine points behind the lead.
