Benfica B reached the fourth consecutive round of points, this time against Sporting B (1-0), on Monday night. In a derby on the 15th round of the II League – generally balanced, but with the lions ascendant – Nélson Veríssimo's eagles opened the scoring in the 35th minute, through midfielder and captain Diogo Prioste. The decision was made following a corner taken to the right, with João Fonseca's header being deflected by the arm of a Sporting player. Therefore, Diogo Prioste took the opportunity to score his second goal of the season. In the complementary stop and response stage, the derby was decided in the 73rd and 75th minutes, when João Muniz and Samuel Justo – Sporting's defender and midfielder, respectively – received their second yellow card. It should be noted that this was the 17th derby between Sporting B and Benfica B, in the first duel since April 2018. Sporting B has not won this derby since April 2016. João Gião's lions suffered their fourth defeat in the II League, remaining in second place, with 29 points, four behind leader Marítimo and with one game in hand. This will be followed by the reception for Académico de Viseu (3rd), on January 4th. In turn, Benfica B rises to 12th place, with 18 points, three ahead of the relegation places. On Sunday, at 11 am, there is a visit to the Académico de Viseu.
