Juventude Pacense was the only Portuguese team to advance to the WSE Cup semi-finals. At home, this Saturday and against the Catalans of Caldes, the 8-4 victory was enough to achieve the turnaround on aggregate (13-10). Even though the visitors recovered from three disadvantages, the Paços de Ferreira team sealed the victory in the second half, going from 5-4 to 8-4. In addition to goals from Diogo Abreu and Pedro Rocha, Juventude Pacense benefited from doubles from Filipe Flórido, Joca Guimarães and José Cancela. Worse luck had Riba D'Ave, who lost against the Italians at Monza (5-3), allowing the team to turn around on aggregate (8-7). The Portuguese team never had an advantage in this second round. Furthermore, Sanjoanense traveled to Catalonia and drew 3-3 at Lleida, not avoiding elimination (7-5). In turn, Hóquei de Braga hosted the Catalans from Calafell, were twice ahead, but suffered a draw (2-2), falling at this stage (aggregate 3-2). Thus, Juventude Pacense is accompanied by the Italians of Monza and the Catalans of Lleida and Calafell in the semi-finals of the WSE Cup. The final-four will be played on April 18th and 19th, and Juventude Pacense is waiting for an opponent. The WSE Cup has been dominated by Spanish teams since 2018. Previously, Óquei de Barcelos (2017 and 2016) and Sporting (2015) were the protagonists of the most recent Portuguese achievements.
