<br><div> <p data-end="468" data-start="202">Even though storm Ingrid is ending, mainland Portugal will begin to feel the effects of depression Joseph from Monday, which will cause persistent rain, snowfall, strong winds and significant sea unrest, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced this Sunday.</p> <p data-end="784" data-start="470">According to IPMA, the first impacts will be felt early in the morning in Minho and Douro Litoral, gradually extending to the remaining regions of the country on the night of Monday to Tuesday. The situation is expected to persist at least until the end of the week, with the successive passage of frontal waves.</p> <p data-end="1221" data-start="786">The forecast points to periods of persistent and sometimes heavy rain on Monday, evolving on Tuesday into a regime of showers, which may occasionally include hail and accompanied by thunder.</p> <p data-end="1221" data-start="786">Snowfall is also expected from Tuesday morning in the highest points of the Serra da Estrela, gradually decreasing the level to 600/800 meters in the North and Center regions and also in the Serra de São Mamede.</p> <p data-end="1591" data-start="1223">The wind will be another risk factor, blowing with gusts of up to 80 km/h on the west coast and reaching 100 km/h in the highlands. At sea, the scenario is equally worrying, with waves of four to five meters on the west coast from Monday onwards, progressively increasing and reaching a maximum height of 12 meters from Tuesday afternoon.</p> <p data-end="1949" data-start="1593">Due to these conditions, several districts will be under orange warning in the coming days. Aveiro, Beja, Braga, Coimbra, Faro, Leiria, Lisbon, Porto, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo and Vila Real will be affected, mainly by maritime unrest, with Vila Real being the exception, with an orange warning for precipitation between 12pm on Monday and 3am on Tuesday.</p> </div>
