The year 2025 was historic for the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and for Portuguese football, on and off the field. On the field, the National Teams reinforced Portugal's status as a Football nation and one of the country's main industries. Five titles won in six finals reached led Portugal to a level of excellence, in a year also marked by the National Team's qualification for the final stage of the World Cup. Off the field, the FPF closed 2025 with a flourish, with the first edition of the Council of Presidents. It was the fulfillment of another step foreseen in the Programmatic Plan of this Directorate, that of the creation of a consultative body that would bring together all the presidents of the ordinary members of the FPF, with all the realities represented: District and Regional Associations, Class Associations and Professional Football. A forum of excellence that, every six months, will promote reflection and discussion about the sport, with rotating vice-presidents. Another fundamental step towards a work cycle based on proximity and transparency, pillars of the governance model and which, with the Council of Presidents, reinforces the representation of ordinary members. It was even more symbolic that one of the first measures was the decentralization of FPF Management meetings, with these taking place in different parts of the country, in an initiative that will promote knowledge of all realities. The first meeting had a very strong symbolic moment, with the presentation of the five trophies won and the runner-up medal of the Women's Futsal World Cup, with the six finals represented. A more than fair tribute to the ordinary members, whose work has allowed the FPF and its National Technical Directorate to form teams of excellence and teams with a culture of victory. In addition to the Council of Presidents, the FPF inaugurated the fourth phase of the Football City, with the expansion and creation of new spaces in the Casa dos Atletas, a space dedicated to the National Teams and all of Portuguese football, with working conditions at the level of the best teams in the world, a lot that, deservedly, Portugal is part of. A remarkable day, with the FPF and Portuguese football reinforcing a new era marked by unity, with their partners at the center of decisions that will mark the future of the industry. P.S.: To the readers of A BOLA, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous Year 2026, full of health and joy. May the year 2026 continue to bring more unique successes to Portuguese football.
