An official source from Sporting told the Lusa agency that the cinema rooms will be converted into a “pioneering immersive experience” space, as part of a project to requalify the Alvaláxia complex. It should be remembered that, in August 2025, Sporting announced the total purchase of the Alvaláxia commercial space, which cost around 17 million euros to the Lions' coffers, as part of the "Cidade Sporting" project, which should include the creation of a club museum. According to the most recent data from the Cinema and Audiovisual Institute, in 2025 NOS Alvaláxia cinemas received 121,783 spectators. In 2024, it had received 193,992 spectators. Opened in 2003, the cinema space officially closed on Thursday and will be used by the club as a way of, as Sporting explains in an official statement, "establishing itself as an entertainment hub of excellence on a global scale”.
