Palmeiras, coached by Portuguese Abel Ferreira, won 1-0 on their visit to Corinthians on Sunday night, in a game counting for the seventh round of the Campeonato Paulista. In the second half, Palmeiras achieved victory with a counterattack carried out by Flaco López, in the 84th minute. There was confusion during the goal celebrations, as Flaco López kicked the corner flag with the Corinthians symbol, a gesture that outraged players and fans of the home team. The confusion was reviewed by VAR, but there was only a yellow card shown to the scorer, due to the way he celebrated. With the victory, Palmeiras has 15 points and is in second place, having secured a place in the quarter-finals. Corinthians is in fifth place, with 11 points, still without guaranteed qualification.
