The Fenerbahçe president was released on bail this Thursday after being detained on Wednesday on suspicion of drug consumption, Anadolu agency reported. Sadettin Saran is one of those targeted in a wide-ranging operation for suspected drug use involving dozens of artists, digital influencers, journalists and businesspeople. According to the news agency, the police carried out analyzes to screen for drug use on several of those involved, which in Saran's case gave negative results. However, Turkish justice continues to consider Sadettin Saran a suspect in the crimes of “obtaining narcotic substances” and “facilitating drug consumption”. The president of the club where Portuguese international Nélson Semedo plays denied using cocaine, and classified the process in which he is involved as “a campaign of slander”. The Turkish-American businessman, who on December 20 had been banned from leaving the country, is now also required to periodically report to the police. Fenerbahçe has already publicly expressed support for its 61-year-old president, who owns the Saran Holding group, with investments in the areas of sports media, cinema and tourism.
