Six punishment games! This is the sanction applied to Marcão, a Sevilla player, for the untimely reaction he had after his expulsion in the 68th minute of the game against Real Madrid, on the 17th round of the Spanish League. The Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation published the report prepared by referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz, in which he states that the Sevilla defender insulted him after showing the red card with the expression “son of a bitch”. After analyzing the images, the Committee considered that Marcão had said “f***ing hell”, instead of the insult reported by the referee, but he still had a heavy hand when it came to defining the punishment applied to the Brazilian footballer. Marcão, who in Portugal represented Rio Ave and Desp. Chaves, will miss the next six rounds of the Spanish League due to expulsion at the Bernabéu, so he should only be an option for the Sevillians again in mid-February. The punishment applied takes into account the double yellow card seen by the defender, as well as the aggressive attitude towards the referee and at the moment he left the pitch. Also sent off in the game against Real Madrid, Sevilla coach Matias Almeyda will miss the next round of the Spanish League, against Levante.
