This Friday, Spain and Belgium won the European Futsal Championship, beating Slovenia and Belarus 4-1 and 4-0, respectively. At the Stozice Arena, in Ljubljana, Spain - record holder of titles with seven in 12 editions already organized - prevented surprises against Slovenia, one of the three co-hosts, thanks to a very strong start, as at half-time they led by a clear 4-0. Antonio Pérez, in the first minute, Mellado, at seven, José Raya, at 16, and Jesús Gordillo, at 18, scored the Spanish team's goals, while Matej Fidersek still sought to reduce the damage in the second half, with a goal at 28. Before, in a match that was expected to be balanced, Belgium beat Belarus 4-0, benefiting from the inspiration of Omar Rahou, with a hat-trick at four, 30 and 38, and also a last goal from Steven Dillien, at 39. In this way, the Belgians and Spaniards take the lead in Group C, with three points each, while the Slovenes and Belarusians are left without points, before a round with the Belarus-Spain and Belgium-Slovenia games, on Monday. The Portuguese team's debut is at 2:30 pm local time (1:30 pm in Lisbon) on Saturday, against Italy, winners in 2003 and 2014, in a Group D duel, at the Stozice Arena, in Ljubljana, followed by another group match, between Hungary and Poland. The European Futsal Championship started on Wednesday and runs until February 7th, in a tripartite organization between Slovenia, Latvia and Lithuania. The top two from each of the four groups advance to the quarter-finals, to be played on January 31st and February 1st, while the semi-finals are played on the 4th and the final and third and fourth place award game on the 7th.
