Santa Clara announced this Monday the permanent transfer of full-back Matheus Pereira to Toronto FC. The team competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), the main North American division, despite being based in Canada. Matheus Pereira, 25 years old, arrived at Santa Clara in the 2024/2025 season and wore the Azorean jersey on 49 occasions. It has lost its preponderance in Vasco Matos' choices since November. Transfer values were not informed by the two clubs. The team had players like Lorenzo Insigne or Federico Bernardeschi last season.
