O Benfica held, on Friday night, the usual training dinner at the Benfica Campus, at a time when the coach of the first team, José Mourinho, was present, as well as four players from the first team trained at Seixal: Tomás Araújo, João Rego, Nuno Félix and Rodrigo Rêgo. The dinner was marked by the delivery of gifts by the four players from the main team to the younger ones, as well as moments of fraternization between older and younger athletes. Mourinho spoke during the dinner, addressing the young people who are training at the Benfica Campus. «Without a doubt, being here with you makes you realize that it is a dream for everyone to reach where our elders have already reached. I don't know how many years I will stay here, but I would really like to be able to continue doing what we have already done in the months that I have been here, which is opening the door to dreams. A good Christmas to everyone and your families", said Mourinho, who has already debuted five young players since returning to Benfica this season: José Neto, Daniel Banjaqui, Ivan Lima, Rodrigo Rêgo and Tiago Freitas. «For us, coaches, it is almost an obligatory mission to give everything we have for our players, in this case, for the kids, but the gentlemen and ladies who work here and who are your family, these people are spectacular. Merry Christmas to you too", concluded Mourinho, who in this Friday's open training session there were once again several young people. Benfica's technical director of youth football, Joaquim Milheiro, also highlighted the importance of moments like these dinners. «We want our children to always feel very happy at Benfica Campus. Today we carried out a set of activities that are part of the Benfica culture and ended with an extraordinary dinner, because it connects people who work in different areas. We are talking about a connection of players that range from 12/13 years old to our players aged 22/23/24, who are part of our A team, who also had the opportunity to go through this environment and who feel enormous affection», he said to BTV. The young players signed a Benfica shirt given to José Mourinho. Mário Branco, general director for professional football, was also present at the dinner.
