Ruben Amorim was removed from the technical command of Manchester United this morning. The news was reported by Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specializing in the transfer market, later corroborated by other media outlets, such as The Athletic, and minutes later the club itself confirmed it with an official statement on the website. The news was announced on Monday morning, and follows the Portuguese coach's harsh statements yesterday, following the draw in Leeds. Amorim indicated that he was deeply displeased with decisions taken without his approval, arguing that it was the manager of United, and not just the coach. And he warned the club that it would have to be impervious to external pressure, especially from commentators: «If people can't deal with the Gary Nevilles and with the criticism of everything, we have to change the club.” The coach's statements went down badly in Carrington, United's base, but above all they confirmed a complicated environment that had been going on for several months, with deep differences in relation to the transfer market, but not only that. And, in addition to the bad results — despite their current fifth place, Ruben Amorim has won just one of the last five games —, the Red Devils' directors understood that the best solution would be to remove the coach.
