In the first round of the qualifying phase for the under-19 National Championship, Sporting received and drew 2-2 against Benfica at the Estádio Aurélio Pereira, in Alcochete. Despite playing at home, the Leo team was always chasing the result. Benfica entered the match imposing their pace and scored after three minutes. However, Sporting's equalizer came in the 24th minute, a result that did not change until the break. In the second half, Benfica returned to full strength and scored the second goal in the 50th minute. Sporting sought to avoid losing in the first round of the championship qualifying phase and, very close to the end of the match, restored equality in the 89th minute. The capital's derby ended with one point for each side. In the Azores, FC Porto did not go beyond a draw against Santa Clara: 1-1. In other results, União de Leiria went to Famalicão to win 3-0 and take first place in the league table, together with Rio Ave who beat Gil Vicente 2-1.
