Portuguese tennis players Jaime Faria and Henrique Rocha qualified for the second round of qualifying for the Australian Open. In Melbourne, Jaime Faria (151st) beat Croatian Luka Mikrut, 160th in the ATP rankings, 7-6 (7-2) and 7-5, in a match that lasted one hour and 55 minutes. In the second round of qualifying for the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the young Portuguese will face the 30-year-old Lebanese Benjamin Hassan, number 259 in the world. Also in the second round is another Portuguese tennis player, Henrique Rocha, who hours earlier had beaten Brazilian João Lucas da Silva in straight sets. The 21-year-old, 157th in the ATP rankings, won 6-2, 6-4, after one hour and 18 minutes. Rocha will now face Argentine Marco Trungelliti, number 130 in the world and 18th seed.
