To know traditions, customs and idiosyncrasies of each country helps us to better understand our neighbors and the people with whom we share our daily lives in an increasingly globalized world. However, sometimes we discover many of these peculiarities thanks to social networks.
Jiajun Yin is a Chinese influencer and content creator based in Spain who, through his social networks and podcast, shares the customs of Chinese citizens, the main differences with Spanish citizens and what more or less impacts them in Spanish idiosyncrasy compared to Chinese.

In one of his numerous videos on social media, Jiajun Yin explained what happens in China when it comes time to pay the bill at a bar or restaurantwhether in a group of family or friends: “We do something that isn’t done much in Spain, which is to pay everyone together but separately. In China what we normally do is invite: I invite you today, tomorrow you invite me, and the next day I don’t know who.”
Jiajun Yin’s preferred method is to split the bill between everyone. Although it is also common among Spaniards for “discussions” to arise about who pays, In China it is much less common to divide the total between customers: “And something that we learned from people here, and that we young people use, is to share and distribute the account, and I think that’s fabulous.
