THE International Cycling Union (UCI) announced this afternoon that Colombian cyclist Germán Darío Gómez Becerra (24 years old) was notified of an adverse analytical result for boldenone and one of its metabolites in a sample taken from competition on December 28, 2025. And that, in accordance with the UCI anti-doping regulations, the cyclist was provisionally suspended, having the right to request the analysis of the B sample.
The UCI itself recalls in its statement that “it delegated the operational activities of its anti-doping program to the International Control Agency (ITA) in January 2021, maintaining results management and processing anti-doping rule violations. Since then, clean sport cycling efforts have been led by the ITA Cycling Unit, dedicated specifically to all cycling disciplines. “The UCI and the ITA are linked by a services agreement that guarantees the independence of the ITA.”

Boldenone, an asteroid used in livestock farming
Boldenone and its metabolites are prohibited substances included in class S1.1 [esteroides anabólicos androgénicos] of the 2025 Prohibited Lists maintained by the World Anti-Doping Agency and adopted by the UCI. Boldenone is an anabolic steroid developed for veterinary use that is used in livestock farming to improve the physique and increase the weight and muscle mass of animals.

Germán Darío Gómez arrived in VisitMalta Police Team in 2024, in what was then known as Polti Kometa Teamafter passing through Colombia Land of Athletes-GW Shimano Bicycles and he had a contract with his team until December 31st of this year.
