In the relegation zone in Serie A, Pisa recently fired former Italian international Antonio Gilardino as coach. The successor is another name with a history in European football - Oscar Hiljemark. Winner of the U21 Euro in 2015, against Portugal, he spent his career at clubs such as Elfsborg, PSV, Palermo or Genoa. At 33 years old and having already spent four seasons as head coach, he returns to Italy to take on a new challenge. Hiljemark was coach of Elfsborg, from Sweden, after a first experience at Aalborg. Signed a contract until 2027 with an option to extend. The Portuguese Tomás Esteves belongs to the club's staff, having been loaned to Bari in this market window. Pisa is second to last in the table, with 17 points combined.
