Bayer Leverkusen got the better of St. Pauli (3-0) and is the first club to qualify for the semi-finals of the German Cup. In a duel between teams that are going through different moments in the German League, the home team proved to be more effective in the first half and reached half-time winning by the smallest margin, thanks to Martin Terrier's goal (31 minutes). This difference remained until half-time and the second half ended up confirming Leverkusen's triumph, given a much more solid performance from the sixth-placed team in the championship. Patrik Schick (63 minutes) and Hofmann (90+2 minutes) gave another contour to the result and launched the team into the next phase. The following matches still remain to be played in these quarter-finals: Bayern-Leipzig, Hertha Berlin-Friburg and Kiel-Stuttgart.
