There is already an agreement between West Ham and Flamengo for the transfer of Lucas Paquetá. The English club confirmed, this Wednesday, that it gave authorization to the 28-year-old midfielder to travel to Rio de Janeiro and complete the usual series of medical examinations, before signing for Mengão. The Hammers did not disclose the amounts involved, but both the Brazilian and English press point to a transfer worth 42 million euros, meaning Paquetá will become the most expensive signing in the history of Brazilian football. West Ham assured that they still tried to convince Paquetá to stay in London, but the midfielder wants to return to Brazil. Nuno Espírito Santo thus loses one of West Ham's figures, but who has not played in the last few matches. This season, he conceded five goals in 19 games. Paquetá left Flamengo in 2018, to head to Milan. He also played for Lyon, before playing in the Premier League. West Ham United can confirm that Lucas Paquetá has been given permission to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms with Brazilian club Flamengo, after a fee was agreed for his permanent transfer. — West Ham United (@WestHam) January 28, 2026
