Morocco confirmed its favoritism and closed the CAN 2025 group stage with an authoritative performance against Zambia (3-0), guaranteeing first place in Group A. Ayoub El Kaabi, with two goals, and Brahim Díaz were the figures of an uncontested night, while the 0-0 draw between Mali and the Comoros Islands ended up having repercussions beyond the group, including for Angola. The opening goal came early for the home team, after nine minutes, when El Kaabi responded in the best way to a set piece worked by Ounahi. Before the break, Brahim Díaz extended the lead by finishing a collective move with class, before El Kaabi sealed the result in the second half with an acrobatic kick to lift the stadium. With this victory, Morocco ends the group with seven points and undefeated, while Zambia, on the contrary, says goodbye to the competition, remaining on two points and with no chance of moving forward, even in the race for the best third-placed teams. In the other group meeting, Mali and Comoros drew 0-0 in Casablanca. The Malians dominated much of the game, created more chances and even played with one man less in the final stretch, after Amadou Haidara was sent off, but were unable to unlock the opponent's defense. Still, the draw was enough for Mali to secure second place and qualify for the round of 16. The Comoros Islands finished third, also with two points, and are eliminated from the competition, given that it is now impossible for them to be in the four best third-placed teams.
