Diogo Leite's Union Berlin recorded a 1-1 draw at the end of the first round of the German League against Ausgburgo, who had reinforcement Rodrigo Ribeiro in the stands watching the game. A protest by Augsburg fans interrupted the match after half an hour and ended up preceding the game's most memorable moment. In first-half stoppage time, Alexis Claude-Maurice caught a rebound about 35 meters from goal and created an arcing shot, full of effect, which even touched the bar before going in, with no chance for Frederik Rønnow. When the dressing room team returned, the home team remained on top and Claude-Maurice was close to scoring twice with a free-kick straight to the post, while Anton Kade forced Rønnow into a great save after a quick counterattack. The scenario became even more complicated for Diogo Leite's team as, in the 89th minute, Derrick Köhn received a straight red card for dangerous play. Everything seemed decided, but, in added time, Ljubicic appeared in the right place to deflect Andrej Ilić's shot into the goal and earn a point. With this draw, Union Berlin ends the first round of the Bundesliga in ninth place, with 23 points. Augsburg is in 15th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
