Returning to the Brazilian Series A, 26 years later, Remo officially signed striker Alef Manga, who in Portugal had a very short spell at Oliveirense, in 2019, in the II League. The striker's career, now 31 years old, has been marked by some controversies, the biggest of which came in 2023, when he was convicted in a case of manipulating sports bets. Read more: everything about the transfer market The case dates back to 2022 and concerns a yellow card, during a Brasileirão game between Coritiba and América, which Alef Manga admitted, in court, to having forced in exchange for money from bettors. Despite expressing regret, the player did not escape a one-year suspension imposed by Brazilian justice. Last season, Alef Manga scored four goals in 31 games for Avaí, in Series B, numbers that convinced Remo to move towards signing him.
