The aim of Flávio Bolsonaro's candidacy is to follow in the footsteps of the PT in 2018: reaching the second round and demonstrating that the clan remains the main face of the right in the country. But what if he fails in the first round? Last week, the chances of the right having at least two presidential candidates this cycle increased. The PSD will choose the name for 2026 between the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, Eduardo Leite, from Rio Grande do Sul, and Ratinho Jr., from Paraná. Given this scenario, what did Flávio's political group do to capitalize on the success of deputy Nikolas Ferreira's walk, which ended with a public event in Brasília? Apparently, nothing — on the contrary. Nikolas has already declared support for Flávio, but has not promoted him. Upon your arrival, spoke and gave interviews describing the march as an action designed by him, non-partisan, aimed at "waking up the country" to corruption. Flávio, in turn, continues to strain the relationship with the two main interlocutors between Bolsonaro and the evangelical camp: pastor Silas Malafaia and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro. Michelle did not declare support for her son 01, but tore praise and blessings to Nikolas, whom she called her husband's "son 6". "The good people love you, honor you and intercede for your life. You are GIANT!", he wrote, pointing out him as a legitimate leader. Silas Malafaia advocates that right-wing voters freely choose between the various candidates in the first round. At the same time, Flávio approaches the pastor's enemies, such as the influencer Pablo Marcal. Filipe Sabará, presented by the media as a political coordinator of Flávio's campaign, coordinated Marçal's campaign for São Paulo City Hall in 2024. This context raises two questions. First: Will Flávio be able to negotiate a truce with Malafaia and Michelle or convince them to embrace his campaign, becoming more competitive in the first round? Second: what is the effect of this dispute on the evangelical field? In addition to not counting on Michelle and Malafaia, Flávio will campaign in an evangelical field worn out by the negative exposure caused by recent episodes. O Globo reported on Sunday that deputy Silas Câmara, accused of cheating by his wife, appears associated with the INSS scandal. Also recently, pastor Fabiano Zettel was detained by the Federal Police in the Banco Master case, and deputy Sóstenes Cavalcante was caught with R$470,000 in cash. After returning to Brasília, Nikolas disclosed the content of a prophetic dream reported by his sister. According to her, God would have said that "Brazil's problem is not Lula, the PT or the left. The problem is the chaff, those among you, those who grow at your expense." The message echoes the frustration with leaders who started to shame part of the church. In short, there is a relevant strand of evangelical voters open to dispute — and it can be occupied by the PSD candidate. It remains to be seen whether any of them exchange a relatively safe Senate election for a direct war against Bolsonarism.
