Mozambique beat Gabon 3-2 and made history this Sunday, by achieving their first victory ever, in the 17th game, in the main phase of the African Cup of Nations (CAN). Geny Catamo and Diogo Calila, players from Sporting and Santa Clara, respectively, scored two of the goals in the triumph. Bangal, in the 37th minute, opened the scoring for Mozambique, assisted by Geny Catamo. Five minutes later, Catamo made it 2-0 for the Mozambicans, in the 42nd minute, with a penalty, before Aubameyang reduced Gabon's deficit, in the 45+5m. In the second half, assisted by Witi, a Nacional player, Diogo Calila scored 3-1 for Mozambique, in the 52nd minute. Gabon still reduced it to 3-2, through Moucketou-Moussounda, in the 76th minute, but Mozambique – who also had a goal disallowed from Geny Catamo in added time – managed to add the three points. Tonight, the second round of group F closes with Ivory Coast-Cameroon (8 p.m.), a duel that pits two teams that won on the first round.
