The Martín Anselmi era begins at Botafogo. The former FC Porto coach sat on the bench for the first time in the 1-0 victory over Volta Redonda, on Wednesday night.
In a duel on the third round of the Carioca State Championship, counting for Group B, Botafogo started the game with several starters and the new coach on the bench. In the first two duels, Anselmi watched from the stands and under-20 athletes played.
Despite adding some opportunities in the first half, Botafogo went into the break tied 0-0 with Volta Redonda. In the second half, young Argentine Álvaro Montoro scored the only goal of the game.
After the game, Anselmi confirmed Savarino’s departure to Fluminense (he did not play in this game). Botafogo is the leader of Group B.
