Briton Luke Littler, 18, is world darts champion for the second time in a row. In the final of the tournament held at Alexandra Palace, in London, he beat the Dutch Gian van Veen, aged 23, 7-1. Last year, Luke Littler became the youngest world champion in the history of this sport. A year later, Luke 'the Nuke', as he is nicknamed, demonstrated that the 2025 triumph was not a fluke, managing to defend his world title. Van Veen won the opening set, but that only motivated Littler, who won the next 7 sets to close out the final. On average, Littler scored 106 points per throw (3 darts) and achieved a maximum score of 180 (3 triple 20s) on 16 occasions. It was the seventh time Littler had faced Van Veen, with the Brit recording his fourth victory against his Dutch rival. After 3 appearances in the World Darts Championship, Luke Littler has only one defeat, in the 2024 final, 4-7 against Luke Humphries. I was 16 years old then... The triumph will earn Littler a prize worth 1 million pounds sterling, the equivalent of 1.15 million euros, a record win in this competition. Littler quoted fellow boxer Anthony Joshua, recently involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of two members of his team: “I really wanted to say this. Everyone knows what happened to Anthony Joshua, his team and his friends. May they rest in peace. (...)» «The first time [que ganhei] It was so good that I had to do it a second time!”, said the world champion, quoted by The Athletic.
