António Salvador, president of Sp. Braga, in statements at the end of the defeat in the League Cup final, against Vitória Guimarães, at the Magalhães Pessoa Stadium, in Leiria, in statements in which he accused the VAR of having discovered a penalty against his team that no one in the stadium saw: «Today is a sad day for us, because we could and should leave here with another result, with winning the cup. We didn't achieve it, but we deserved it, for what we played, for the opportunities we created and for the game we played. It was deserved to have another result. Unfortunately we didn't make it. We know that in a football game, the one who plays best or creates the best scoring opportunities does not always win. We know this and we have to accept it. And we accept that. Now, we cannot accept that football is being taken away from players and teams. And therefore, what I want to say here is that football belongs to the players and what I ask is that they definitely stop killing football with VAR and hand football over to the players and teams because that is what the essence of football is.”
