Valencian Quique Llopis, with a time of 7.45, reached the Spanish record for the 60 meter hurdles this Friday after winning the race at the Madrid meeting, on the Gallur circuit, in which he reduced three hundredths of a second from the previous best time (7.48), which he had in his possession, equal to Orlando Ortega.

Llopis, 25 years old, is the great reference in hurdle races in Spain and his progression, each season, increases. In his history he has a silver medal in the 100 meter hurdles at the European Championships in Rome 2024, a fourth place in the Olympic final in Paris 2024, another fourth place in the Outdoor World Championships in Tokyo 2025 and another fourth place in the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow 2024.

Llopis arrived at the Madrid meeting with a best time of 7.50 in Valencia and Dusseldorf (Germany). Confident in their possibilities, the semi-finals were a formality. He won with a time of 7.49, the best time of the season, and reached the final in first place in his series, ahead of the European champion, the Italian Lorenzo Simonelli.

In the final, Llopis, in lane six, flew over the track to fall below 7.50 for the seventh time and record 7.45, five hundredths less than Simonelli (7.50) and six behind the American Jamal Britt (7.51).
