The Australian Open already has its first champions

The Australian Open already has the first winners of the 2026 edition. The Australians Olivia Gadecki and John Peers won the mixed doubles tournament this Friday for the second year in a row after beating the French Kristina Mladenovic and Manuel Guinard 4-6, 6-3 and 10-8 in the final

The first Australian couple to win the title since Margaret Court and Ken Fletcher 62 years ago, it took one hour and 32 minutes to get back to the final and become the first couple to win two consecutive titles in the first Grand Slam of the season since Czech Jana Novotna with American Jim Pugh in 1989.
