The 1500m world champion in Tokyo-2025 Isaac Nader and the bronze medalist, also in the 1500m, at the Apeldoorn-2025 Indoor World Championships, Salomé Afonso, both from Benfica and their boyfriends, revalidated, this Saturday, the titles of winners of the São Silvestre de Lisboa, by being the fastest in an 18th edition marked by rain, which did not allow for the establishment of records, other than the number of 15 thousand registered, with a new maximum of 39 percent women. Isaac Nader, 26 years old, winner in 2023 and 2024, needed 28.34 minutes to cover the 10 km route through some of the main streets in the capital's downtown (Avenida da Liberdade, passing through iconic spots such as Restauradores, Rossio, Rua do Ouro, Cais do Sodré, Av. 24 de Julho, returning via Cais do Sodré again, Av. Ribeira das Naus, Praça do Comércio, Rua da Prata, Rua da Betesga and returning to Av. Liberdade) and finished accompanied on the podium by Duarte Gomes (28.44m), from Sporting, and João Batista (29.24), from Natação de Torres Novas. In the women's sector, Salomé Afonso, 28 years old, repeated her first position in 2024 by crossing the finish line at the end of Avenida da Liberdade in 32.55. Solange Jesus (33.37), from SC Braga, and the Swedish Nova Ojutkanas (34.41) were in 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively. In the Battle of the Sexes, the male elite expanded their advantage to nine triumphs, compared to the seven times that women resisted and reached the goal before.
