About to complete one year since the unfortunate transfer of Luka Doncic to the Lakers, from that tragic night when Dallas gave up on his favorite son and his future, Cooper Flagg He made a proclamation more as a savior and also as a generational player roaring in Dallas. Flagg, the number 1 teenager in the draft who dazzles with all the spotlight on him, committed the madness at age 19 of shooting for 49 points that even LeBronJames reached when called The Chosen Onewith 43 as the 19 age limit. Despite this, his friend’s Charlotte Hornets, who aim to be archrivals, Could Knueppelspoiled the party (121-123) for Flagg who set the NBA scoring record for a teenager.
All the Dallas prodigy needed was to face Knueppel, perhaps unfairly overlooked for being on an inconsequential team like the Hornets, but ultimately one that aims to take the prize away from Flagg. Rookie of the Year for which he has been predestined since he was chosen number 1 in the draft. The point guard, drafted at 4, went for 34 points to also set a new scoring threshold and push the impressive forward to a new scoring threshold while catapulting Charlotte to victory.
A famous shooter – so much so that he needed the fewest games to reach 100 triples -, Knueppel shook the Mavericks with 8/12 from the perimeter for a total of 10/16 in shooting, while Cooper Flagg divided his pile of points in 20/29 in field goals and 3/5 from long distance, also scoring 10 rebounds.
Knueppel and Flagg shared a lively pregame conversation before shooting baskets on the hardwood, good friends from their time together in Duke, where the former Barça player plays now Mrs. Sarr.
With his 49 points, the Mavericks’ generational player sets a new all-time scoring record for a teenage player in the NBA. The previous one was the 45 which Cliff Robinson He scored against the New Jersey Nets in a Detroit Pistons jersey in 1980, albeit three days before his 20th birthday, while Flagg is even closer to 18 with 39 days since blowing out 19 candles.
However, the most surprising thing about Cooper Flagg is that Luka Doncic’s successor is surpassing rookie LeBron James. The striker has already become the 18-year-old player with the most goals this season, with 42, surpassing the 37 of the The King in his rookie year and the 43 that LeBron has as his highest record when he was 19 years old. So ’23’ was also almost a year older than Flagg, as he was a month shy of his 20th birthday.
At just 19 years old, Flagg already knows how to do everything with his 2.06, Same height as LeBron. All the hopes of the Mavericks destined for victory rest on him. tank -twelfth in the West with 19-29-, and with the headache of getting rid of a Anthony Davis still injured. The only valuable merchandise that arrived for Luka Doncic is damaged. But with Cooper Flagg and his LeBron-like looks, no one in Dallas remembers Doncic anymore.
