With this Friday’s triumph, against Newcastle (1-0), Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United managed to do something they haven’t done since 2022: win in the Premier League without Bruno Fernandes. At the time, a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo saved the “Red Devils”.
Bruno Fernandes, United captain, has been in Manchester since the 2019/20 season, when he left Sporting. Since then, the last time Manchester United had won without the Portuguese midfielder was three years and nine months ago. Against the “Magpies”, the number 8 was left out due to injury.
At the time, in March 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo scored three goals in the victory (3-2) against Tottenham. Since then, Bruno Fernandes missed six games, which resulted in five defeats and a draw for the «Red Devils».
Manchester United’s victory over Newcastle United is their first in the Premier League without Bruno Fernandes since their 3-2 win over Tottenham in March 2022 — Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to seal three points for Ralf Rangnick’s side that day.
