Geovany Quenda (Sporting) is in second place and Rodrigo Mora (FC Porto) in fourth place among footballers born in 2006 or later, worldwide, who play outside the five main European leagues - the «big-5» - in terms of performance throughout the year 2025. In the most recent study by the Football Observatory (CIES), published this Wednesday, Quenda appears just behind Givairo Read (Feyenoord) and Caleb Yirenkyi (Nordsjaelland) appears to close the podium, followed by Rodrigo Mora. The top-10 is completed by Kees Smit (AZ Alkmaar), Pedrinho Henrique (Zenit), Rayan (Vasco da Gama), Jorge Salinas (Racing Santander), Joane Gadou (Salzburgo) and Álvaro Montoro (Botafogo), with Porto player Victor Froholdt appearing in 11th position, in the list of 100 athletes made by CIES. William Gomes, from FC Porto, appears in 54th position. João Simões, from Sporting, is also included in this world ranking, in 98th. CIES notes that «the ranking was prepared using a methodology developed exclusively» by itself, with data from Impect. The athletes' hierarchy was based on «15 categories, established by combining the players' activity level in six areas (aerial play, ball recovery, distribution, offensive runs, assists and finishing)».
